Michelle and Anthony wanted one thing for their bedroom: a sense of calm. In contrast to the main rooms in their home, which are colorful and vibrant, they wanted their bedroom to feel relaxing and understimulating.
From the furnishings to the colors, they wanted their bedroom to feel like a retreat, not something that added stress to their fast-paced lives. They requested small nightstands to discourage clutter, no rug to vaccuum, bedding that was muted and no-fuss, and decor and art that maintains that serenity.
Here's the space when we started:
And here's the finished room:

Sticking with a color palette of gentle blues and grays kept the room restrained, but we added visual interest and softness with an upholstered bed and a fiber art piece above. The curves are helpful for balancing the square shapes elsewhere in the room.

Metallic finishes and natural marble balance out all the wood, and provide no-fuss surfaces. But even still, there's plenty of opportunity for the sort of quirky touches they love to collect!

Love this one! More to come.
